ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: Samantha Ramirez always bring infectious energy and dedication into the gym. As a member of many years, Sam has continued to work hard and make progress with strength and gymnastics and to challenge herself in daily workouts. She is humble and welcoming, a great example of what makes Offshore special.
When did you join Offshore and how did you find CrossFit? ? I joined Offshore in 2012 (can’t believe it’s been 5 years). I joined for someone else’s sake, but it ended up being the best thing I ever did, for myself.
What is your favorite benchmark WOD? Your favorite lift or movement? Why?
EMOM’s are my jam, I keep pushing for EMOM day, an entire hour of EMOM’s, but Jason and Joe haven’t signed off on it yet. Otherwise, anything involving cardio; running, handstand pushups, box jumps, burpees, or DU’s.
What are your top 3 goals? Remain healthy, challenge myself, and inspire others
What is your biggest motivator? The mirror, sounds vain, but I am my biggest critic, so if I don’t look good, I don’t feel good, and then my whole disposition changes.
What is your favorite cheat meal? LOL, after turning 40, feels like all meals are cheat meals, but my favorite.. I’d say gluten free pizza with sausage and pepperoni (hold the cheese!) from Privateer. So, it’s basically a cracker with meat on top, but I do love it!
What is your proudest athletic achievement? Completing the Vineman (½ Ironman) in 2013
What is something we don’t know about you? I always look both ways when I cross the street and I have over 100 pairs of shoes 😉
What’s your secret party trick? I’m really good at Limbo
What is your next athletic goal? Tomorrow, workout and eat healthy!
When can people find you at the gym most days? Noon class!
